A Bronze Award for the Glamping & Alternative Accommodation category in the South West Tourism Excellence Awards now takes pride of place on our shelf, meaning our two silver awards from the Bristol, Bath and Somerset Tourism Awards had to shuffle up.
Thursday 6th February saw the awards evening held in the stunning Exeter Cathedral where extensive organisation was needed to upgrade the facilities to a venue suitable to host almost 400 people for this prestigious black tie event. Everything was brought in; from the tables and chairs, to the caterers area, even water supplied by Wessex Water was tanked in for the caterers and for the swanky port-a-loos outside. The result was spectacular.
Just over 100 businesses were represented from all over the region, 8 from Somerset. What a privilege to be among them, to be flying the flag for our county in the tourism awards for the BEST region for tourism in whole of the UK.
Huge Congratulations to all the winners, it was fantastic to meet so many like minded people, everyone striving to create the perfect tourism experience with their businesses. Some businesses have large teams of staff while many others are like ours where we personally build, scrub, mend, launder, shop, bake, welcome, and do all the techy stuff behind the bookings and online presence as well. Receiving recognition like this, by a thorough judging process and panel, is a culmination of all our hard work and very humbling, but the BEST reward is when our guests leave with a huge smile after enjoying all that our 1940's inspired shepherds hut has to offer.
