About your stay

We would really love to meet you and share the Esme’s Escape experience with you. We have created a nostalgic 1940’s land-girl space with little luxuries to make your stay very comfortable.

What consumables are included when booking through this website? Please advise us of dietary requirements when booking.

  • We will leave a little treat for you to eat on arrival.

  • Locally sourced breakfast ingredients (bacon, eggs, sausages, tomatoes, mushrooms, baked beans, bread, preserves, butter, juice, milk) are supplied for your first morning, see our suppliers below.

  • Tea bags, and a selection of Nespresso coffee pods (or feel free to bring your favourite flavour)

  • Miniature toiletries; shampoo, conditioner, shower gel

  • Logs and kindling kit for your first night, more can be purchased during your stay

Facilities include:

Inside:

  • Ensuite bathroom; Flushing toilet & Electric Shower, plus use of fluffy towels, bathrobes & slippers during colder months

  • Log Burner

  • Fold-away table

  • Hairdryer, iron and ironing board (upon request)

  • WiFi

  • DAB radio and Bluetooth speaker & USB charging points for your gadgets

  • A very comfortable bed (Hypnos as used in Premier Inns) and super soft bed linen

  • Storage for your overnight bags

  • Playing cards, games & wartime novels (in keeping with the 1940’s theme) for your entertainment

  • DVD player and some wartime movies for you to watch

  • A torch for your walks back from the pub, we have no street lights in Haselbury Plucknett

Outside:

  • Own drive & parking right next to the Shepherd’s Hut

  • Decking with covered dining area, table and chairs

  • Log Fired Hot Tub - £20 per stay, payable on booking, which includes 2 bags of kiln dried logs

  • Own private garden

  • Log fired BBQ/Pizza Oven

NEW for 2020:

  • Patio area with deckchairs for you to recline in

  • Chimnea complete with marshmallows and a toasting fork

And there’s more:

Where possible, and when needed, we will light the fire for your arrival so that your stay is cosy from the off.

We allow small dogs to join you for £20 per stay, please bring your dog's bed for him/her to sleep on as they are not permitted on the furnishings, full terms & conditions are available below.  Please note that while the garden is large enough for your pooch to roam and exercise in we do not guarantee it to be dog-proof if your furry friend is partial to escaping.

This Shepherd’s Hut combines the glamping experience with the convenience of a great foodie pub 'The White Horse' within a few hundred metres; some might call it ‘staggering distance’.

On Friday evenings we have Ham Hill Cider, a very rustic bar which is just over a mile away, a country walk or short drive (the owners have offered our guests a lift back to Esme's Escape after an evening of drinking). There is a great atmosphere at this farmyard venue and they serve other drinks, you don't have to drink cider if you don't want to. A real Somerset experience.

We are lucky to have a farm shop in the neighbouring village of North Perrott a mile down the road and the pretty market town of Crewkerne just 2 miles down the A30, full of local shops and cafes.  The Haselbury Mill is within a mile as well, walking distance if you are attending a function there or wish to eat there during your stay.
