Somerset - Wonder of the West Country

Updated: Apr 12

Channel 5 recently took its viewers on an insight of the lesser known Southwesterly holiday destination 'Somerset - Wonder of the West Country'.

During the 5 episodes Alan Titchmarsh narrated as the cameras demonstrated a number of quirky competitions, days out, stunning gardens and local characters.

Among the many points of interest, during there last episode, were none other than Jonathan and Anwen Hoskyns, owners of our local farm shop and their daughter Izzie, while they hosted their annual Apple Tasting Weekend.

'Our annual Apple Day is spread over the weekend of 12th & 13th October. As well as a chance to talk about and taste a large range of home grown apples & pears, and their juice, there are tractor rides around the farm and a chance to view vintage tractors ploughing (weather permitting). Refreshments are available in the Coffee Shop and in the Village Hall, where a local craft fayre is held at the same time. Ideal for families, free entrance and plenty to see and do undercover if wet.' says Jonathan.

Locals were excited to see the show:

'Just watched it. Was fabulous to see our local farm shop and orchard so well presented.',

'Just watched, it was great to see your success on TV , well done 👏 😁'

'Alll three of you came across as cool and professional, which is extra creditable given how manic your Apple Days can be. Well done.'

If you haven't visited Somerset yet and are looking for inspiration for places and events of interest I highly recommend viewing this series.
